Arabs and Israelis Study Group

We are a group of individuals dedicated to fostering understanding, dialogue, and collaboration around the Israel-Palestine conflict. We bring together people from diverse backgrounds, beliefs, and experiences to explore shared humanity, challenge stereotypes, and build a foundation for meaningful peace. This group is an independent initiative and YourJewish is proud to support the group as a partner organization.

Background

Rabbi Jill Avrin and Moneer Rifai met together shortly after October 7th to participate in a joint educational session to discuss the impact of October 7th on their respective communities. This effort was initiated by Gethsemane Lutheran Church, with whom both Moneer Rifai and Rabbi Jill Avrin both had connections. They held two public events in the fall of 2023 and after that continued to meet privately, along with Emma Moneer and Steve Lear. In February of 2025 they held another public event and then started the expanding their group to become a larger dialogue initiative.
