Weddings

A wedding is such a joyous moment that can be honored and celebrated in so many ways. We believe that all couples who are interested in integrating Judaism into their wedding should have an opportunity to do exactly that, with validation, support, love, and joy!

A wedding is such a joyous moment that can be honored and celebrated in so many ways.  Some couples choose to stand underneath a chuppah with a large gathering of family and friends while others choose to mark the occasion in a more intimate or creative setting.  As a proud Reform rabbi and Minnesota resident, Rabbi Avrin is licensed to legally officiate weddings for couples who desire to integrate Judaism into their marriage in some capacity.  This may mean that both partners come from Jewish background or that one partner comes from a Jewish background while the other is connected to another tradition, or does not associate with any religious tradition at all. Rabbi Avrin works with couples in the months leading up to their wedding to determine what type of celebration they are looking for.

The ideal time to start the process is 10-12 months prior to the ceremony but accommodations can be made in various circumstances. Rabbi Avrin typically meets with couples 6 times leading up to the ceremony, is trained in pre-marital counseling and offers premarital counseling during these 6 sessions, if desired by the couple. She has officiated over 70 weddings since being ordained as a rabbi, including many weddings for couples who come from lgbtq+, multi-faith, multi-racial backgrounds. As the daughter of a multi-faith marriage, she believes passionately that all couples who are interested in integrating Judaism into their wedding should have an opportunity to do exactly that, with validation, support, love, and joy!
